Adrien Tambay is a racing driver of French birth, who competes in the 2015 DTM Championship for Abt Sportsline.[1] Tambay, son of former Formula One race winner Patrick Tambay, is competing in his fourth season in the DTM.[1]

Current SeasonEdit

Tambay runs with the #27 on his Audi RS5 DTM, which is run by hte Abt Sportsline team.[1] At the season opening DTM Festival in Hockenheim, Tambay failed to score a point, suffering a retirement in the second race due to damage.

BackgroundEdit

After a relatively brief stint in karting from 2001 to 2006, Tambay made his debut in the 2007 Formula BMW Germany Championship, ending the year fourth in the standings.[1] Third place the following season saw him step up to the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2009, although, unlike many of his DTM rivals, it was to only be a single season.[1] After failing to register a point during a disjointed season, Tambay moved on to the Auto GP Series.[1]

Two years in Auto GP saw Tambay take two wins and a best championship result of fourth.[2] He combined this with a limited 2010 campaign in GP3, finishing 20th, and Formula Renault 3.5 in 2011.[1] At the end of 2011, however, Tambay was approached by Audi to join their DTM charge in 2012.[2]

DTM HistoryEdit

Tambay's first DTM campaign in 2012 saw him stand on the podium at the penultimate round in Valencia, ending the season in 10th overall.[2] Yet, it took until the second half of 2013 before Tambay became a consistent points finisher, scoring at four of the final five races, on his way to 14th in the standings.[2] In 2014, Tambay started strongly with a third place at the season opener in Hockenheim, followed by points at the following three rounds.[2] Only one more points finish, however, saw Tambay fall to 14th in the final standings.[2]

Abt Sportsline retained Tambay for 2015, partnering him with Edoardo Mortara in their second pair of Audi RS5s.[3] After finishing fifteenth in the opening race of the DTM Festival, Tambay retired from the second race after damage sustained throughout.[1]
